Horse riding

Take to the saddle for a half-day guided tour of the Alps on horseback. Your ride will take you to the foot of a mountain pass, where you will dismount and walk the last little bit to a picnic spot between the peaks. Enjoy a light snack before heading back to the hotel.

Via ferrata & paragliding

Climb up, then fly down for a true adrenalin rush. Our climbing guide Indre Kutkaite will take you along a via ferrata, then lead you on a hike to the peak. Here, Sam Vernier will be waiting to glide back down with you in a tandem paraglider.

Experience real life on a farm. Join our local guide Eric Quinnodoz on a tour through Evolène, before visiting one of our working farms. In summer, we'll also head up the mountain to see the cows at pasture.

Guided by our knowledgeable naturalists, spot and observe rare and vibrant birds in their native Alpine habitats. A serene and captivating adventure to delight everyone. Not just birdwatchers.

Explore the flavours of Evolène with a delicious journey through our village. Try local delicacies, learn about tradition, and get to know our people along the way.

Paragliding (with or without skis)

Strap into a tandem paraglider and take to the skies. To ensure your safety, all paragliders are manned by a licensed pilot, but we also offer training courses to learn solo-gliding. During winter, you can also clip on some skis and take off directly from the slopes for a truly exhilarating experience.

Star gazing

Join our guide on a magical night-time stroll up to the mayen of Le Rucher, where the sky is alive with starlight. Learn about the constellations, listen to local legends, and enjoy a hot meal under the stars.

Every Friday, the village hosts a small movie night. Contact our Concierge for the full program of films. Snacks and blankets are provided.

Learn the art of various local crafts from our townspeople, including belt manufacturing, wool preparation, and cheese making.

Visit of Atelier Métrailler

Just off the main road lies Marie Métrailler's atelier, a weaving studio with working looms. Hear Marie's legendary story, then try your hand at weaving, before browsing our boutique for local gifts and keepsakes.

Winter

Ski touring

If you're looking for a bit more adventure, join us for back-country Alpine skiing. Our experts will guide you up the mountain on your skis, so you can glide back down across untouched snow.

Night in a snowcave

Spend the night  in a snowcave you dig yourself. Our guides will take you up the mountain and show you how to set up for this truly unique experience. They will also bring provisions so you can rest in peace, knowing breakfast with a view awaits.

Biathlon Introduction

Learn the fundamentals of rifle shooting in a relaxed environment. This experience includes cross-country skiing for proper biathlon training but you can also choose to travel on foot or snow-shoe between shooting rounds.

Cross-country skiing

Hidden away from crowds, Val d'Hérens is a dream for Nordic skiers. Follow trails across breath-taking plateaus, through sparkling forests, and by charming villages. Our instructors base trail length and difficulty on your skill level and preference.

Dog sledding

For a unique experience, settle into a quick ride or panoramic tour on dog-drawn sled. Curious to take the reins yourself? Our musher is happy to teach you too.

Ice climbing &  raclette on fire

Discover the magic of winter after dark as you learn the basics of ice climbing or tackle trickier frozen routes with guidance from Antoine, our expert instructor. As each person takes a turn on the ice, the rest gather by the fire for raclette melted over warm bread. A true Alpine delight.

Skiing & snowboarding

Sail down the slopes of the Espace Dent Blanche with the Matterhorn in your sights. At an altitude of  1400m – 3000m, slopes are pristine and accessible to all levels. Or drive the short distance to Les 4 Vallées, one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland. Guided sessions are also available.

Ice skating

Bring your skates or rent a pair at the Haudères Ice Rink for a day of spins, jumps, and glides. If you're  not yet comfortable on the ice, this quiet natural rink is the perfect place to start too.

Snow-shoeing

Explore the wild heart of Val d’Hérens with a guided tour on snow-shod foot. Choose from a selection of scenic walks, including a beginner's introduction, and learn to read animal tracks along the way.

Climb the cliffs above Evolène safely and surely with or without a guide. A protected climbing route features cables and ladders mounted into the rock so you can clip yourself to the mountain as you make your way along. There are routes for all levels.

New to climbing or want to reach the next level? Sign up for climbing school with Indre Kutkaite, our expert climbing guide. Indre offers private and group lessons; half-day or full-day sessions; and mountain camp, cabin stay, and multi-pitch climbing training. Children are also welcome.
