Ice climbing, mountain biking, fine dining: Evolène has something for everyone all year round.
Horse riding
Take to the saddle for a half-day guided tour of the Alps on horseback. Your ride will take you to the foot of a mountain pass, where you will dismount and walk the last little bit to a picnic spot between the peaks. Enjoy a light snack before heading back to the hotel.
Via ferrata & paragliding
Climb up, then fly down for a true adrenalin rush. Our climbing guide Indre Kutkaite will take you along a via ferrata, then lead you on a hike to the peak. Here, Sam Vernier will be waiting to glide back down with you in a tandem paraglider.
Farm visit
Experience real life on a farm. Join our local guide Eric Quinnodoz on a tour through Evolène, before visiting one of our working farms. In summer, we'll also head up the mountain to see the cows at pasture.
All seasons
A Date with Alpine Wildlife
Dawn is when the mountains gently come to life. Join Marcel Gaspoz, wildlife photographer and local resident, as you set out to observe chamois, red deer, marmots and birds of prey in their natural habitat. A quiet outing where patience, discretion and a keen eye reveal wildlife that often goes unnoticed.
Groups are limited to two guests, exceptionally three, to preserve the peace and quiet essential for wildlife observation. Binoculars are provided by Le Rucher d'Evolène.
Guided Hike at Sunrise or Dusk
As the first light reaches the mountain peaks or the sun slips behind the ridges, set off on a guided hike with Stéphane, a qualified mountain guide, and experience the Val d'Hérens in a completely different light. The changing colours, peaceful surroundings and sweeping views make every walk truly memorable.
A half-day experience adapted to the season and weather conditions. Head torches and binoculars are provided for evening outings.
In the Heart of Evolène's Heritage
Stroll through Evolène's narrow lanes, historic barns and centuries-old houses as Eric, heritage guide, shares the stories of the village and the generations who have shaped it over time. The experience continues with a tasting of Valais wines, followed by a relaxing massage to round off this peaceful escape in the heart of the village.
A half-day experience in Evolène, for groups of 1 to 6 guests.
The Evolène Weaving Workshop
Step inside Marie Métrailler's workshop and discover a craft handed down through generations. Surrounded by yarns, natural fibres and traditional looms, she introduces you to the techniques of local weaving and guides you through your very first creations.
A two-hour experience, available on weekdays, for a maximum of two guests.
Meet the Horses of Evolène
Spend time with Natacha, her horses and ponies in the heart of the Val d'Hérens. Discover a different approach to horsemanship, built on trust, listening and connection with the animal, before continuing the experience with a walk, children's games or stories shared along the way.
Each half-day experience is tailored to the participants and to the rhythm of the horses. Suitable for guests aged 6 and over.

Ski touring
If you're looking for a bit more adventure, join us for back-country Alpine skiing. Our experts will guide you up the mountain on your skis, so you can glide back down across untouched snow.
Night in a snowcave
Spend the night in a snowcave you dig yourself. Our guides will take you up the mountain and show you how to set up for this truly unique experience. They will also bring provisions so you can rest in peace, knowing breakfast with a view awaits. Discover more.
Biathlon Introduction
Learn the fundamentals of rifle shooting in a relaxed environment. This experience includes cross-country skiing for proper biathlon training but you can also choose to travel on foot or snow-shoe between shooting rounds.
Cross-country skiing
Hidden away from crowds, Val d'Hérens is a dream for Nordic skiers. Follow trails across breath-taking plateaus, through sparkling forests, and by charming villages. Our instructors base trail length and difficulty on your skill level and preference.
Dog sledding
For a unique experience, settle into a quick ride or panoramic tour on dog-drawn sled. Curious to take the reins yourself? Our musher is happy to teach you too.
Ice climbing & raclette on fire
Discover the magic of winter after dark as you learn the basics of ice climbing or tackle trickier frozen routes with guidance from Antoine, our expert instructor. As each person takes a turn on the ice, the rest gather by the fire for raclette melted over warm bread. A true Alpine delight. Discover more.
Skiing & snowboarding
Sail down the slopes of the Espace Dent Blanche with the Matterhorn in your sights. At an altitude of 1400m – 3000m, slopes are pristine and accessible to all levels. Or drive the short distance to Les 4 Vallées, one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland. Guided sessions are also available.
Ice skating
Bring your skates or rent a pair at the Haudères Ice Rink for a day of spins, jumps, and glides. If you're not yet comfortable on the ice, this quiet natural rink is the perfect place to start too.
Snow-shoeing
Explore the wild heart of Val d’Hérens with a guided tour on snow-shod foot. Choose from a selection of scenic walks, including a beginner's introduction, and learn to read animal tracks along the way.
Summer
Discover the Val d'Hérens from the Sky
Take to the skies and experience the valley from a completely different perspective. During a tandem paragliding flight, you'll soar alongside a certified instructor as villages, forests and glaciers unfold beneath you, framed by the Dent Blanche, the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc de Cheilon.

Rock Climbing Between Evolène and Arolla
Suspended between rock and sky, challenge yourself on the cliffs of Evolène or Arolla. Indre guides you from your very first contact with the rock face through to more technical climbs, adapting the experience to your pace and confidence. A half-day is all it takes to leave with a fresh sense of achievement and a breath of mountain air.

Follow the trails of the Val d'Hérens, where ancient paths and alpine meadows tell the story of the valley. Accompanied by a qualified mountain guide, you'll explore an itinerary carefully adapted to the season and the interests of the group. A full day to slow down and immerse yourself in the surrounding landscape.
The experience includes a picnic featuring local produce.
Meet the Hérens Cows
Step into Julien and Delphine's alpine pasture and meet their herd of Hérens cows, the iconic breed of the Valais. As you walk together, they share their daily life, their work and the mountain traditions that have shaped the seasons for generations.
The experience continues in the evening with a traditional raclette dinner in Les Haudères.
A Wine Journey Along the Trails of Evolène
Set off on a journey where history meets local flavours, travelling by mule along the historic paths of Evolène. Patricia, muleteer and storyteller, and Eric, heritage guide, bring local legends and the Evolène dialect to life at every stop. Along the way, the saddlebags are opened as they once were, revealing a tasting of Valais wines and regional specialities to enjoy in the open air.

The Evolène Woodcarving Workshop
Step into the quiet of Hugo's workshop in La Tour and discover the traditional craft of woodcarving. Guided by techniques passed down through generations, you'll shape the wood into your own unique creation, inspired by local craftsmanship.
