The language of the heart, within reach

For those of you who want to know more about the patois of Evolène, there is a small publication worth discovering. La Langue du Cœur, by Gisèle Pannatier and Isabella Cabral, offers a simple and living introduction to this language, passed down through generations.

You move through it like a walk. A Bonzò a tuìks! here, a question there, words that follow the seasons and landscapes of the Val d’Hérens . Patois is not really explained. It is encountered.

That is the strength of this publication. It does not try to do too much. It simply shares. The patois of Evolène appears as it still is today, rooted in everyday life.

To keep close, or to open before arriving. Understanding a few words already changes the way you see things.
